BOST 2017 Artist Application

Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22, 2017

The BOST is designed to build relationships between Bloomington artists and their target audiences, educate the public about the purposes and processes of making art and provide resources and support to artists to further their own sustainability.


  • BOST seeks to showcase fine artists and crafts persons of high artistic merit.  Anyone who regularly creates artwork and seeks to exhibit, distribute, and sell their work is eligible to apply.

  • All participants must show their work in their own studio if they live in Bloomington. In the event that one’s studio is indisposed, outlying of the area, or too integral to their own living space, an artist may elect to participate in another participant’s studio space.

  • All participants are required to be in attendance for the entire event, to display only their original work, and to demonstrate their processes to the public.

  • Group studios are acceptable, though all artists within the studio that utilize BOST publicity must be participating artists. It is highly encouraged that all artists within a group space be officially participating artists.

How do we pay for this event?
Artist’s registration fees pay approximately half of actual cash expenditures of the BOST event; donations, ad sales, grants, and partnerships make up the remainder. Volunteer hours provide professional and administrative in-kind service contributions that are estimated to be four times the cash contributions.

Event Participation Fees and Timeline

  • Early-Bird registration fee*: $85  Due by April 15
  • Final registration fee*: $100  Due by May 5
    *For either registration, $15 is a non-refundable application fee.
  • A limited number of larger booklet spaces will be available for an additional fee and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
  • Acceptance letters sent: June 1

    BOST Booklet Options

    • Each artist will receive a 4.03 sq in listing, 1/6 of a page.
    • If you wish to purchase a larger listing space, the following options are available:
                1/3 of page: $35 (in addition to application fee)
                1/2 of page: $70
                2/3 of page: $105
                Full page: $175
    • These expanded listing options are limited and will be available until filled.
    • Pay for additional space on the payment page

    BOST Participation Requirements

    BOST is administrated by a small group of artist volunteers who meet all year. To successfully produce this event, all participating artists must also assist in three areas:

    1) Promote BOST at Fourth Street or October Gallery Walk. Choose one:

    Assignments will be given to artists at the Materials Distribution event to be held in late August.

    We will have sponsorship spaces available in our booklet.
